The type and power of riflescope that you buy should be dictated solely by the use that you have in mind for it as there is no, ‘one size fits all’, type of riflescope.

- 1×5 Low power riflescopes are best used with shotguns and hunting in woods for deer.
- 3×9 or 3×10 medium power scopes are suitable for a wider range from brush to further afield targets.
- 6×24 or 8.5×30 high power scopes have the highest magnification settings and are best when a truly clear optic at long range is needed.
